Office of Proffessional Standards and Training

The Office of Professional Standards is responsible for making sure that each deputy, investigator and jailer is aware of his or her duties and responsibilities during daily operations.  The training officer routinely holds classes to keep employees updated on any changes in laws and regulations. 

Tranining classes are conducted by a Ga. P.O.S.T. certified Training Officer  on a monthly basis for all certified officers and are usually held at the Heard County Sheriff's Office.  This Officer is also a certified Firearm instructor and keeps all our deputies up to date on all use of force issues.  Each deputy with the Heard County Sheriff's Office is required to complete a certain number of hours of training each year to keep his or her certification.    The Office of Professional Standars is also responsible for investigating any complaints against deputies, investigators or jailers.  This investigation is conducted on a timely basis and the findings are forwarded directly to Sheriff Ross Henry for disposition.
