Heard County Sheriff's Office

Investigators with the Heard County Sheriff's Office are given various cases on a daily basis.  A great deal of the cases turned over to the investigators involve misdemeanor offenses such as criminal trespass and minor thefts, however, a number of cases involve felonies such as burglary, larceny and even rape or auto theft.

Each Investigator is assigned cases based on his or her area of expertise.  For example, one investigator may be looking into a burglary while another may be interviewing witnesses for a child deprivation case while yet another may be talking to residents of neighborhood about damage to mailboxes.

Since some crimes often cross border lines in other counties our investigators also work closely with other agencies from other jurisdictions such as Carroll, Coweta or Troup county.  Investigators rely heavily on the help of the public.  Often Investigators are called to a scene after the crime occurs and must talk to neighbors or friends who may provide clues they need to make an arrest or clear the case.
